On 1 September 2026, H.E. Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Mozambique, met with Ms. Wichuda Akaramethathip, Director of the Thai Trade Center in Pretoria, whose jurisdiction covers Mozambique, on the occasion of her visit to Mozambique to participate in the 61st Maputo International Trade Fair (FACIM).
During the visit, the Director also met with new Mozambican importers of Thai products, including fiberglass canopies for pickup trucks and automotive anti-theft devices. She also visited the two Thai SELECT-certified restaurants in Maputo — Spicy Thai and Pekai’s Thai Pub & Restaurant — both of which are popular among Mozambican consumers and the international community residing in the country.
On this occasion, the Ambassador expressed his appreciation to the Thai Trade Center in Pretoria for providing financial support, through the SMEs Pro-active Programme, to five Thai agricultural machinery companies to participate as exhibitors at this year’s FACIM. The participating companies also showcased products from a total of 14 Thai companies during the fair.
Ambassador Bancha also encouraged Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce to consider hosting the 3rd Thailand–Mozambique Joint Trade Committee (JTC) Meeting at the ministerial level in Bangkok next year. The meeting would serve as an important mechanism to further advance bilateral trade and increase the value of trade between Thailand and Mozambique.
