On 2 September 2026, H.E. Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Maputo, met with H.E. Mr. Estêvão Rafael Pale, Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy of Mozambique, on the sidelines of FACIM 2026.
During the meeting, the Ambassador invited the Minister to attend Gastech 2026, one of the world’s leading energy conferences and exhibitions, to be hosted by Thailand from 14–17 September 2026 at BITEC Bangna, Bangkok. The Minister was also invited to participate as a speaker in a ministerial-level session during the event.

The two sides also exchanged views on Mozambique’s growing potential to become an important player in the global LNG industry. Thailand’s PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) is currently an investor in the Mozambique LNG Area 1 Project in Cabo Delgado Province, a major energy project of strategic importance to Mozambique’s economy and energy sector.

Following the meeting, the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy of Mozambique designated Dr. Rudêncio Morais, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH), Mozambique’s national oil and gas company, to lead an 11-member Mozambican delegation to participate in Gastech 2026 in Thailand.

In addition, PTTEP is scheduled to arrange a visit for the Mozambican delegation, led by the Chairman of ENH, a partner of PTTEP in the Area 1 Project, to LNG-related facilities in Map Ta Phut, Rayong Province. The visit is expected to provide an opportunity to exchange experiences and further strengthen energy cooperation between Thailand and Mozambique.
