1. Development Bank of Mozambique to start with capital of 32 billion meticais

The Development Bank of Mozambique is expected to begin with share capital of 32 billion meticais, subscribed by the State. The bank will provide medium- and long-term financing for strategic sectors, including agriculture, infrastructure, renewable energy and manufacturing.

2. Rovuma LNG could generate up to US$150 billion for the State

The ExxonMobil-led Rovuma LNG project could generate up to US$150 billion in revenue for the Mozambican State over 30 years. The company expects to make its final investment decision during the second half of 2026.

3. Government calls for greater financing for agriculture and fisheries

The government called on banks and private financial institutions to expand access to financing for agriculture, fisheries and agro-processing. Limited access to credit remains one of the main constraints affecting domestic production and private-sector growth.

4. Foreign direct investment reaches US$5.6 billion

Foreign direct investment in Mozambique reached approximately US$5.6 billion in 2025, an increase of 60.2% compared with the previous year. Most investment continued to be concentrated in the extractive sector.

5. Mozambique seeks US$3 billion in investment from the United Kingdom

The Mozambican government expects to mobilise approximately US$3 billion in British investment. Priority areas include energy, agro-industry, transport, electric mobility and industries based on clean energy.

6. Government advances strategic transport and energy corridor projects

The government approved negotiations for several transport, port and fuel-infrastructure projects. These include projects linked to Beira, Quelimane, the Savane fuel corridor and the proposed Mapinhane–Pafuri Development Corridor connecting Mozambique with regional markets.

7. Central bank warns inflation could reach double digits

The Bank of Mozambique warned that inflation could accelerate into double digits in the short to medium term. The outlook reflects uncertainty surrounding fuel prices, supply-chain disruptions and higher food and transport costs.

8. European Union plans to mobilise over €300 million for Mozambique

The European Union plans to mobilise more than €300 million in investment under its Global Gateway strategy. The funding will focus on energy, agribusiness, digital transformation and sustainable economic development.
