On 29 April 2025, H.E. Mr. Soradjak Puranasamriddhi, Ambassador of Thailand to Mozambique, together with Mr. Shannon Lee Ferry, Advisor to the Agricultural Machinery Industry Group under the Federation of Thai Industries, met and had discussion with Mr. Jaime Mugabe, Administrator of Guijá District, Gaza Province, Republic of Mozambique, on the occasion of demonstration of Thai agricultural machineries to the local farmers.

Mr. Mugabe emphasized the agricultural potential of Guijá District, particularly in rice cultivation and aquaculture, due to its geographical advantages and well-established irrigation systems. He also invited Thai private sector investment in these areas.

The Ambassador expressed Thailand’s readiness to enhance cooperation in agriculture, highlighting Thailand’s expertise in rice production and the use of small-scale agricultural machinery suitable for smallholder farmers in Mozambique. He also invited representatives from Guijá to attend the FACIM trade fair in August 2025, where Thai agricultural machinery companies will showcase their products.

In the afternoon, the Ambassador and delegation attended a field demonstration of agricultural machinery with over 60 participants, including government officials, civil society representatives, and local farmers. The demonstration focused on the functions of a two-wheel tractor, which can plough, tow, and attach various implements effectively. A small rice milling machine was also demonstrated, capable of separating debris, cleaning, and producing rice bran — which drew significant interest from participants.
