On 10 June 2026, Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs and Ambassador-Designate of Thailand to the Republic of Mozambique, together with Mrs. Tirta Rojrangsee, Director of Africa Division, and Mr. Athikom Daengpun, Counsellor, Africa Division, attended a briefing hosted by PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP).
The PTTEP delegation was led by Mr. Titi Thongjen, Executive Vice President, International Production Asset Group, Mr. Anan Amornprabharwat, Senior Vice President, Africa Asset, and Ms. Krisana Juisiri, Senior Manager, Mozambique Project. The meeting focused on the progress of the Mozambique LNG Project and preparations for participation in the Feira Internacional de Maputo (FACIM) 2026.
Mr. Bancha exchanged views on recent political, security, and economic developments in Mozambique, noting that the overall environment has become increasingly conducive to the advancement of the Mozambique LNG Project. In particular, the security situation in Cabo Delgado Province has continued to improve, while the Government of Mozambique regards the project as a key driver for economic growth, job creation, and foreign investment.
PTTEP provided an update on the Mozambique LNG Project, one of Thailand’s most significant investments in Africa and a project of strategic importance for Thailand’s long-term energy security. The project brings together partners from several countries, including France, Japan, India, and Thailand, as well as Mozambique’s national energy company. First LNG production is expected in 2029.
PTTEP expressed confidence that the project will generate substantial mutual benefits for all stakeholders involved. Beyond strengthening global and Thailand’s energy security, the project is expected to create employment opportunities, generate income, and contribute significantly to Mozambique’s long-term economic development and the well-being of its people.
The two sides also discussed PTTEP’s participation in FACIM 2026, which will take place in Maputo from 31 August to 6 September 2026. PTTEP plans to showcase its activities at the exhibition, which will provide an important platform to promote Thailand’s strengths and enhance the visibility of Thai businesses and investments in Mozambique
