1. Government approves draft law on crowdfunding

The government approved a draft law establishing a legal framework for crowdfunding. The measure aims to expand alternative financing opportunities, particularly for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.

2. Rovuma LNG could add US$11 billion annually to Mozambique’s GDP

A Standard Bank study estimates that the ExxonMobil-led Rovuma LNG project could contribute approximately US$11 billion annually to Mozambique’s GDP. The project could also create around 151,000 jobs and generate nearly US$4 billion in annual tax revenue.

3. Mozambique and EU sign agreements worth €178 million

Mozambique and the European Union signed four agreements worth €178 million under the Global Gateway initiative. The funding will support electricity access, digital transformation, agricultural businesses, education and professional skills.

4. Portugal provides €17 million to support Mozambican MSMEs

Portugal announced €17 million in financial support for Mozambican micro, small and medium-sized enterprises through the Portuguese Cooperation Business Fund. The programme includes credit guarantees and grants for companies, cooperatives and producers’ associations.

5. Law establishing Development Bank of Mozambique promulgated

President Daniel Chapo promulgated the law establishing the Development Bank of Mozambique. The bank will finance and support strategic projects intended to accelerate the country’s economic and social development.

6. Mozambique’s economy grows by 0.1% in the first quarter

Mozambique’s GDP increased by 0.1% year-on-year during the first quarter of 2026. Agriculture, trade, transport and communications were the principal contributors to the modest growth.

7. Government plans US$710 million investment in civil aviation

Mozambique’s Civil Aviation Master Plan provides for investment of more than US$710 million by 2045. The plan includes the modernisation of airports, air-navigation systems and aviation safety infrastructure.

8. World Bank-supported MozAgriBiz programme advances

The government is working with the World Bank to implement the Mozambique Agribusiness Value Chain Development Programme. Financing will prioritise legally registered and compliant agribusiness operators and support agricultural production, employment and food security.
