On 2 May 2025, H.E. Mr. Soradjak Puranasamriddhi, Ambassador of Thailand to Mozambique, together with Mr. Shannon Lee Ferry, Advisor to the Agricultural Machinery Industry Group under the Federation of Thai Industries, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Roberto Mito Albino, Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries of Mozambique. Also present at the meeting were Mr. Jaime Chissico, National Director of Agriculture, Mr. Dalfino Guila, Advisor to the Minister, and Mr. Yahya Wongkanya, First Secretary of the Royal Thai Embassy.

Both sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Mozambique. The Ambassador shared information on Thailand’s development cooperation projects in Mozambique since the establishment of the Embassy in 2016, including the Community Learning Center (CLC) in Taune District, which promotes sustainable community development based on the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy (SEP), and the Thailand–Mozambique Tilapia Breeding Center in Praia do Bilene. The Ambassador also outlined the planned implementation of the Thailand–Mozambique Seafood Processing Incubator Project in 2025, under a public–private partnership (PPP) framework.

In addition, the two sides exchanged views on enhancing agricultural productivity and quality, particularly through the promotion of small- and medium-sized agricultural machinery in Mozambique. Such efforts aim to reduce reliance on imports and effectively address food security challenges. The Mozambican side also expressed interest in visiting Thailand to study its capabilities and best practices, especially in agriculture and aquaculture, which are among Thailand’s key strengths.
