On 9 July 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy in Maputo organised the 2022 Loy Krathong Festival for Thai nationals at the Thai Ambassador Residence to create an opportunity for Thai nationals to celebrate one of the traditional Thai festivals and pay respect to the goddess of water.

On this occasion, Mr. Soradjak Puranasamriddhi, Ambassador of Thailand to Mozambique, together with 30 Thai nationals and their family, released krathongs (small lotus-shaped rafts, decorated with candles, incense, and flowers) onto the water and enjoyed other activities together. Furthermore, Ambassador Soradjak also gave away the prize to winners of krathong making competition.
