Thai Ambassador to Mozambique had a call on the Director of the Directorate of Asia and Oceania, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mozambique

On 31 January 2024, H.E. Mr. Soradjak Puranasamriddhi, Ambassador of Thailand to Mozambique had a call on H.E. Mr. José Matsinha, Director of the Directorate of Asia and Oceania, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mozambique to follow up and update on Thailand-Mozambique cooperation throughout 2023. The Ambassador also briefed the Mozambican counterpart on the Embassy’s plan for 2024, which marks the 35th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the two countries. The Director of Asia and Oceania’s Directorate expressed his readiness to facilitate and support the work of the Embassy and wished to see continued progress in Thailand-Mozambique relations.

 

Some highlights of the Royal Thai Embassy in Maputo’s activities and projects in 2023 include Thailand’s participation in the 58th edition of FACIM (Feira Internacional de Maputo). Thai companies specializing in agriculture machinery and equipment, among others, took the opportunity to showcase their products and forged partnerships with Mozambican business communities, including the Confederation of Economic Association and Chamber of Commerce.  The Embassy also supported the work of Thai private companies in Mozambique and followed up on pending political and trade dialogues as well as Agreements. On the development front, the Embassy worked hand in hand with PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) and the Institute for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (Instituto para a Promoção das Pequenas e Médias Empresas: IPEME) to create economic opportunities and improve livelihoods for fisheries communities in Vilankulos, Inhambane Province, through the Seafood Product Value Enhancement Project.  Furthermore, the Embassy also engaged with the Thai community through various activities, for instance, the consular services outing in Montepuez, Cabo Delgado Province, Loy Krathong and Songkran Celebration, planting mangrove forests in Matola, Maputo Province etc. For 2024, the Embassy will build on the momentum of the previous year to bring about mutual benefits for Thailand and Mozambique.
