On 31 August - 1 September 2023, Ambassador Soradjak Puranasamriddhi, Thai Ambassador to Mozambique, led a delegation comprising officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and Thai private sector representatives, including representatives from the agricultural machinery industry of the Federation of Thai Industries, EGCO Group, Atlantic Group, VP Garment, and Boss Delight Manpower, in talks with key Mozambican agencies and private sector entities.
The discussions aimed to promote bilateral cooperation and strengthen trade and investment opportunities between Thailand and Mozambique. The Thai Delegation also attended the International Trade Fair of Maputo (FACIM) where Thai products were showcased at Thailand’s booth.
In bilateral relations, Ambassador Soradjak together with Mr. Worawoot Pongprapapant, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle Eastern, and African Affairs, and Lieutenant Sorawud Preededilok, Minister Attached to Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) met with Mr. Jose Antonio Alberta Matsinha, Director of the Department of Asia and Oceania, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mozambique. Both parties discussed various forms of cooperation between Thailand and Mozambique, including trilateral cooperation, expansion for the current development cooperation projects, and progress of the Bilateral Investment Treaty between Thailand and Mozambique.
Furthermore, Ambassador Soradjak also led the Thai private sector delegation in talks with Mr. Silvino Augusto José Moreno, Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mr. Olegário dos Anjos Estevão Guilherme Banze, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, the President of the Mozambique Chamber of Commerce, and Confederation of Mozambique Economic Associations (CTA). The discussions aimed to introduce Thai businesses and enhance Thailand's trade and investment prospects in sectors such as agricultural machinery, energy, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and workforce training. These friendly discussions paved the way for business matchings, a crucial starting point for future business collaborations between the Thai and Mozambican private sectors.
