The Royal Thai Embassy in Maputo, in collaboration with the Federation of Thai Industries and the Office of Commercial Affairs in Pretoria, organized an exhibition to promote small-scale agricultural machinery from Thailand at the International Trade Fair of Maputo (FACIM) 2023, held from 28 August to 3 September 2023.

The exhibition aimed to introduce Thai small-scale agricultural machinery to the international market, with a focus on products such as tractors, small-sized power tillers, and rice milling machines, along with their various components. This effort aligns with the needs of Mozambique's agricultural sector, which predominantly consists of small-scale farmers.

The Thai exhibition at FACIM 2023 garnered significant attention from high-ranking officials, including the President and Prime Minister of Mozambique, Ministers and high-level representatives from various Mozambican government agencies, and local farmers. The Thai small-scale agricultural machinery was particularly well-known due to its quality, reliability, affordability, and adaptability to various farming needs, including land preparation, irrigation, harvesting, and transportation.

FACIM is recognized as the largest annual international trade fair in Mozambique and provides a crucial platform for entrepreneurs to showcase their products and innovations. This year, six Thai companies participated in the event, namely S.T.I. International Co., Ltd., CLP Intertrade Co., Ltd., Tylers Industry Co., Ltd., Kamol Industry Co., Ltd., Talaythong Factory Co., Ltd., and Siam Implement Co., Ltd.

In addition to the agricultural machinery exhibition, the Thai Embassy showcased the recent Seafood Product Value Enhancement Project organized in collaboration with PTTEP Mozambique Area 1 Limited, National Food Institute of Thailand, and Mozambique's Institute for the Promotion of Medium and Small Enterprises (IPEME). Workshops were held to enhance the capacities of IPEME technicians (training-of-trainers) and members of the fishing communities in Inhambane Province, especially women and youth, to sustainably harness the country’s rich marine life to create economic opportunities and improve livelihoods.

Thailand’s participation in FACIM 2023 is a result of a close partnership between the Thai Government and private sector in promoting Thai businesses, innovations, and expertise to the people of Mozambique. It underscores Thailand's commitment to being Mozambique’s partner in agricultural and sustainable development.
