Handover Ceremony of the Community Learning Centre under the Sustainable Community Development based on the Application of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy Project in Mozambique

On 11 June 2021 at 2.30 pm, H.E. Mr. Thosaporn Moonlasartsathorn, Ambassador of Thailand to Mozambique, presided over the Handover Ceremony of the Community Learning Centre to the Government of Mozambique.

The Community Learning Centre (CLC), located next to the Primary School in Tuane, Gaza Province, was part of the ‘Sustainable Community Development based on the Application of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy Project in Mozambique’ which Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) conducted during 2017-2020. The project aimed to share Thailand's expertise in agriculture as well as the concept of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy with Mozambique, with the hope that they would contribute to the better livelihood of the people. During the cooperation period, TICA helped funding the construction of the CLC, a classroom, teachers' dormitory, bathrooms, toilets and administrative room of the school, donated some farming equipments and also sent several volunteers to station in Tuane to share their agricultural technique with the villagers. 

The event was attended by representatives from the Department of Asia and Oceania, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Administrator of Bilene, and Mayor of Bilene, among other officials in the field of rural development and agriculture. Besides, more than 200 locals who were familiar with the work of the Embassy also came to greet the Embassy's staff, and even prepared a traditional dance show, and presented gifts such as capulanas and local produce to the staff as tokens of appreciation for the project. The ambassador gave a closing speech to the project thus handing over all the buildings and equipments that were used during the cooperation period to the District of Tuane. He also thanked the Mozambican counterparts and the villagers for the support they redered to the Embassy's staff and volunteers during the past few years.

No dia 11 de Junho de 2021 pelas 14h30, Sua Excelência Sr. Thosaporn Moonlasartsathorn, Embaixador da Tailândia em Moçambique presidiu à Cerimónia de Transferência do ‘Desenvolvimento Comunitário Sustentável baseado no Projecto de Aplicação da Filosofia da Economia de Suficiência em Moçambique’. O evento foi realizado no Centro de Aprendizagem da Comunidade (CLC) em Tuane, com a presença do Departamento da Ásia e Oceânia, Ministério dos Negócios Estrangeiros e Cooperação, Edil do distrito de Bilene, funcionários relacionados e mais de 200 membros da comunidade local. O embaixador fez um discurso para encerrar o projeto e entregar todos os edifícios e equipamentos ao Edil. Na cerimónia, os habitantes locais apresentaram danças e canções tradicionais e deram capulanas, vegetais e frutas como forma de agradecimento à Embaixada Real da Tailândia.
